Day 7 - Tuesday

At first we had breakfast with our host family. Later we went to the bus stop and arrived as usually at the train station in Eastbourne. We met all the others at school and had lessons until midday.

After school we went along the seafront to the Eastbourne Pier and could eat our lunch there. After another ten minutes of walking we took a last picture of our amazing English group and the we split up into two group. One group headed directly to the old town and the other group stayed for a while at the beach.

Florian and I went swimming. Also some others dared to go into the water. Arriving in town we had spare time and did some last shopping. As always, at the end we went back to our host families.

Day 6 - Monday

On day 6 we went to London for the second time. First we travelled from Eastbourne to London by train. Where we first took the underground to the London Eye, there we took a ride (about 25 minutes). From the London Eye capsules we had a fantastic view above the whole city. After that we had a short lunch break. Then we took the tube to Piccadilly Circus and walked through London's China Town to Convent Garden (once used as a flower market) , where we had a chance of 45 minutes to buy some stuff/souvenirs.

Finally we went to the Madame Tussauds by tube. There were various wax statues of famous people and a 4D cinema.

At the trainstation we had dinner and after our dinner a one and a half hour train ride took us back to Eastbourne. After all it was an awesome day.

Day 5 - Sunday

Today Hastings was on our list. At a quarter past nine we gathered at the train station in Eastbourne. We were too early so we bought some souvenirs at a market, accidently we met the teachers there.

Arriving in Hastings we headed to the seafront and passed some old fishing facilities (boats, cages). Before we tried fish and chips we had had a rest at the stony beach. Most of us ordered fish and chips, it's more or less a must eat.

Afterwards we went through the old town and up a hill where we could have a nice view above the city/sea and saw some old ruins. We learned about the battle that took place somewhere in the back of the country in 1066. We relaxed up there and enjoyed the scenery.

Suddenly our teachers demonstrated the modern version of the battle of Hastings when Mr. Althaler (France) attacked the teachers,  lying in the gras, with a watergun. Mr. Achenrainer fought back and tried to defeat (England).

Then we went down into the city and got some more freetime. Slowly we caught the train back to Eastbourne. All in all it was a relaxing and sunny day in Hastings. We loved it!

Day 4 - Saturday

Today, on day 4, we went to school as usual. First, the weather was cloudy and rainy, but it got better and better.

In the afternoon we took the train to Brighton. A very lively city double as big as Eastbourne. We must say that the culture there is really interesting, especially the Royal Pavilion, built around the early 1800's, in the area of Prince/King George the IV, well known for his special lifestyle. In Brighton then we strolled through the lanes (famous narrow small streets) and we went also to the Palace Piere (kind of an amusement park with roller coasters and other things you can ride with) , to the beach and we even got time to go shopping.

The day was really interesting and it was another cool experience here in England.

Day 3 - Friday

Today was the third day of our fantastic English week. We were in London! We wanted to take a ride with the London Eye but at the entrance they sadly told us that we had the wrong tickets. Our teachers told the agency SFA and hopefully we can do it on Monday. Meanwhile some street performers entertained us. So we started our sightseeing trip through London.

AT first we saw Big Ben (Elizabeth Tower), then of course London Eye, we walked along the south bank of river Thames, passed Tade Modern and Globe Theater. We walked on an crossed Tower Bridge. At the Tower of London we had a short break and most of the students drank something.

We continued and took a Doubldecker bus and went to St.Pauls Cathedral. After that we went through Green Park to Buckingham Palace. Finally we strolled a bit through St.James Park and at 5 to 7 we caught the bus back to Eastbourne. Everyone was exhausted and feet hurt because of the many kilometers we have collected.

Day 2 - Thursday

This was our first day in school. We had 6 lessons which all took 30 minutes. At 12:30 our teachers picked us up and we headed to the seafront. After some minutes we went to the famous Wish Tower a building originally built in the early 1800's to defend the country against Napoleon.  There we had a short lunch break.

Afterwards we continued and hiked upwards to Beachy Head, a 540 feet high cliffs where we could see a lightening tower. Soon we wanted to return to Eastbourne and on our way we found a nice meadow where some of us played football and the others relaxed on the gras.

Arriving in town again we luckily managed to get on the busses back to our host families. Now we are looking forward to see London tomorrow.

Day 1 (Wednesday)

On Wednesday the 19th of June at 7 a.m. we went by bus to the airport in Munich. The ride to the airport took about two and a half hours.

As soon as we arrived at the airport we checked in our luggage (bags) and passed all the security controlls without any troubles.

We all were happy when our plane was ready for take off. But we were quite happier when we arrived in London Heathrow. We waited for the coach to bring us to Eastbourne. Because of the traffic it took us another two hours to finally arrive in Eastbourne.

Some families were already waiting in front of the language school for their host kids. We said goodbye to the others and our teachers. Everyone met their families. Stay updated how our adventure goes on. (Laura, Anna, Mona and Miriam)

Some questions to ask yourself before travelling?

Ready? Have you changed currency at home? British Pounds? Or will you get cash from the ATM? Have you created a travelling packing list?

What about my passport? Still valid?

What else do I need?
